George Eliot must have known the Divas would be doing good deeds

The Receiver

Diva e blogs:

Wasn't I the fortunate recipient this weekend of good deeds being done for me - a free ski ticket to Sugarbush on Sunday, a free massage after skiing, and a frosty key lime martini to go along with a roast prime rib dinner. Good Deeds come to those who Do Good Deeds Often (DGDO)!

Now I know how the other receivers feel and it feels good.

(and I didn't fumble catching the good deeds, no interceptions on my playing field)

YEAH ~ I got in 2 good deeds yesterday

I had taken myself to the movies yesterday. On the way in it was just so cold and blustery that I practically ran to the door. Well, when I got there I turned to see an older couple walking slowly to the door and decided I was warm enough to wait and hold the door for them. You would have thought I paid for their tickets ~ they were so appreciative and their smiles warmed my heart.

Inside the theater I had gotten myself all settled when I saw a scarf in the aisle. I got up, picked up the scarf and tapped an elderly gentleman on the arm to ask if it was his. Well he was thrilled to have it ~ apparently his granddaughter had made it for him AND it was made out of buffalo fur. It was a beautiful scarf!!!

I really love seeing the smiles of strangers.

Good thought to remember as our days go along doing good deeds

Blogging On-ward

Diva e blogs:

Thanks to Diva Mimi, your good deed for the day was stating that the blog was a good idea. I am reminded that there is power in one and double the power of good deeds in two. The blog will prevail.

Thought for the day is right up "our alley"

This was the thought of the day from Real Simple and I thought of "Divas Doing Good Deeds"

Diva "weight" project

Hi Divas, I started an informal Weight Watchers meeting at work. I reserved a conference room where we can meet for support and ideas and sent an email to past WW attendees. The people who showed up today were thrilled :-).

I've been thinking that I don't have many opportunities to do a "Diva Good Deed". Most days are spent alone ~ in my car to work, in my cube working and then home again! I'll have to pay stricter attention to where "deeds" could be done.

On the House

Diva e blogs:

Free fixin' - that's what I told my client when I didn't charge her today. The printing problem was fixed in a flash and I suggested she use the money I didn't charge her to buy new ink cartridges (which was the solution to her non-printing problem anyway).

Her smile was the best payment of all.

The PRICELESS Deed

Diva e blogs:

I shopped in a local gift shop today, enticed by the after Christmas Sale sign in the window. A few "must haves" grabbed my attention and when I went to pay for them, I made a decision to pay cash, instead of charging the already substantially discounted items.

That may not sound like much of a Good Deed, but to a small retailer, that extra 3-5% not paid to a credit card merchant is substantial, especially on merchandise that is already heavily discounted. I would like to see this merchant stay in business and not be gobbled up by the large retail chains. Usually I charge everything because I benefit from it - one dollar charged is one frequent flier mile.

Not using a credit card today: PRICELESS

Opitmi Z ing

Diva e blogs:

The Divi-ated were warned that the Divi-ater was coming today. A couple of laptops needed a touch of optimiZing and the soon to open restaurant, Z, in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire was the grateful recipient of some light manual labor, some in-progress digital photos for their blogging of the restaurant's birth (seriouslyfunfood.blogspot.com), and some humor.

One Deed at a Time can change the world.

A Dirty Deed, Indeed

Diva e writes:

A trashy piece of literature. On my way to one of my all time favorite places, (the Library - sshhh, it's a secret) I picked up some litter and deposited it, with a smile, into the strategically placed rubbish barrel at the library's front door. One piece of litter at a time. I swear I saw Mother Nature smile down upon me as the Good Deed got done.

Diva Mimi starts 2007

Hi Divas, What wonderful ideas ~ Divas Doing Good Deeds and a Diva Blog!!!!

I qualify too for Divas Doing Good Alone. Just yesterday I "recovered" a Santa that was in the street where I live and put it back on the porch of the owner. This morning I let a fellow get in line ahead of me at Dunkin Donuts ~ he was more than a little taken aback :-). Seems people aren't used to kindness.

I will think about "Divas Together" ideas. Maybe we could meet at Jaho and talk about it. Does packing up clothing for Good Will or Pine Street Inn qualify? Maybe we could go to My Brother's Table and serve lunch/dinner. I don't know much about that but I'm sure we could find out. Spring clean up for an elderly neighbor?

Looking forward to a Diva 2007.

Love, Diva Mimi

Happy "do good often" new year to all. This is the beginning of the Divas Doing Good Deeds. We may not have the time to always get together, so I've created a place for us to think, write, ponder, and produce deeds for the doing.

I would like to brainstorm ideas for Divas Doing Good Alone and Divas Doing Good Together.

My good deeds have already begun. I'm letting cars go in front of me - from driveways, side streets, and out of parking spaces. Instant gratification for both me and the other driver. Doesn't cost a penny, takes less than a second to complete, reduces frustration and puts a smile on at least two faces.
